Is Roundup responsible for symptoms of celiac?

By Christiana Dillard
NO

Glyphosate is the active ingredient found in the ubiquitous weed-killer Roundup. Is it responsible for the symptoms of celiac disease, which causes damage to the small intestine if gluten is consumed?

A 2013 paper hypothesized that glyphosate was "the most important causal factor" in the celiac disease "epidemic."

Researchers who specialize in medical and molecular genetics concluded in 2017 that this hypothesis didn't hold up.

This year experts said the 2013 paper didn't present any scientific proof.
