Did President Joe Biden say, ‘My butt’s been wiped,’ in response to a reporter’s question?

By AP Staff
NO

Biden was unable to hear a reporter's question as he stepped off Marine One on July 25 and jokingly asked, “What must be what?”

The reporter’s original question had been, “Does immigration need to be in reconciliation? Must it be in reconciliation?” The question referred to the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation measure that congressional Democrats are proposing.

The reporter clarified her question by saying, “Immigration, a pathway for citizenship?”

Biden responded: “There needs to be a pathway to citizenship, whether it can be in immigration remains to be seen.”

The exchange was captured in pool video where the president’s words can be heard clearly. But a clip with muddled audio circulated on social media and attributed the false quote to Biden.
